Infotainment & touchscreen
Radio, air conditioning and most other settings are controlled via the central touchscreen in the Tesla Model Y.
You can find most settings by tapping the car icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.
💡 The menu button in the lower part of the screen (three dots) gives you access to saved apps, e.g. Bluetooth and Spotify.
Navigation
You can start navigating via the map view on the touchscreen. Simply click on the search bar and enter your desired destination.
Voice Commands
To initiate a voice command, press the right scroll button on the steering wheel. As you speak, the touchscreen displays an interpretation of your command. It also displays common types of commands that you can speak. When you finish speaking the command, press the voice button again or simply wait.
Traffic-Aware Cruise Control
The traffic-aware cruise control can be used as cruise control and distance keeping that determines when there is a vehicle in front of you in the same lane.
You can enable the cruise control in the Autopilot section of the vehicle settings. Please note that you need to be driving at least 30km/h on a flat road.
⚠️ Traffic-Aware Cruise Control is designed for your driving comfort and convenience and is not a collision warning or avoidance system. It is your responsibility to stay alert, drive safely, and be in control of the vehicle at all times.
Regenerative braking system
If you slow down your speed when stopping in traffic by holding the accelerator pedal down only slightly, the excess energy is returned to the battery (e.g. before a red light). You can increase your range this way.
⚠️ This procedure does not replace normal braking when safety is required!
USB-C Ports
Two USB-C charging ports are integrated into the center console for the rear row of seats.
In the front area, two smartphones can be charged inductively at once. You will find the charging trays in the center console below the touchscreen.
Rear-view camera
Whenever you shift into Reverse, the touchscreen displays the view from the camera. Lines show your driving path based on the position of the steering wheel. These lines adjust as you move the steering wheel.
To display the view from the rear-view cameras at any time, open the app launcher and touch the Camera app.
⚠️ The parking aid of the Tesla Model Y does not have a warning sound generator, but only a camera.
Trunk
There is a push button on the vehicle's tailgate to open the trunk automatically. Alternatively, you can open both the front and the rear trunk via the touchscreen.
Close the rear trunk by pressing the button at the top of the open tailgate briefly.
Child car seats
The Tesla Model Y is equipped with ISOFIX mounts that you can use for your brought-along child seat. Seat belts retained in child seats can also be installed.
Never seat a child on a seat with an active airbag in front of it. Death or serious injury to the child can occur. If you want to place the child seat on the passenger seat, make sure to deactivate the passenger airbag first.
You can find the airbag setting in the upper right corner of the touchscreen. Tap on the icon to enter the settings. The Icon must display "Passenger Airbag OFF".
Important: Don't forget to switch the airbag back on before you end your rental.
